A: The F.A.T. in the Triple F.A.T. Goose name is an acronym that means “For Arctic Temperatures.” From the very beginning, our jackets have been built to offer exceptional performance even under the harshest of weather conditions. That means keeping our customers warm, whether they are traveling through the actual Arctic, or just experiencing arctic-like temperatures closer to home. In order to achieve this, our jackets are crafted with the highest performance materials possible and insulated with premium goose and duck down to ensure unparalleled warmth and comfort. Many of our customers will tell you that our parkas are some of the warmest coats they have ever owned.

A: There are a lot of factors that go into determining just how well a jacket will perform in cold conditions. For instance, the fill power, quality, and the amount of down used in the jacket’s construction all play a part in determining how warm it will be. The type of materials used to make its outer shell affect performance too, as will the coat’s design, cut, and coverage area. Longer jackets provide additional warmth simply because they cover more of the body when compared to a coat that only comes to the waist for instance.

When it comes to determining the warmth of our jackets, Triple F.A.T. Goose doesn’t rely on temperature ratings. Because a person’s tolerance for the cold can vary dramatically from one individual to the next, temperature ratings can be highly subjective. A person’s genetics, metabolism, medical history, and a variety of other variables can all impact how comfortable they are in cold conditions, which is why temperature ratings are misleading.

That said, the jackets listed below are the warmest in our line-up. Thanks to their high fill power ratings, fill weights, and fill ratios—coupled with their premium fabrics and extended coverage—any one of these jackets should perform well in Arctic conditions.

• Huron — Our flagship parka, which just so happens to be our warmest waterproof parka as well. This 3/4 length jacket features 15.5 ounces of 700 fill power white goose down, water-repellent zippers, magnetic snaps, and a durable Atmoshell+ fabric, which adds to its performance in cold conditions.
• Chenega II / Stratus — These 3/4 length waterproof parkas are insulated with 15.5 ounces of 700 fill power white goose down and are equipped with water-repellent zippers. They also utilize a 3-layer HydraSeal Waterproof Performance Fabrication that keeps even heavy rain and snow at bay.
• Colburn — A 3/4 length water-resistant, arctic-weight parka that features 15.5 ounces of 700 fill power white goose down. Both stylish and comfortable, this is an elevated version of the traditional parka.
• Eberly II — Our longest length parka. This full-length, water-resistant jacket features 17.5 ounces of 700 fill power white goose down to provide both plenty of warmth and protection from the elements.
• Eldridge — With its DWR coating and Hydrophobic Nanotechnology, this parka offers added layers of protection from the wind and rain. Insulation comes in the form of 15.5 ounces of 675 fill power white goose down, offering outstanding performance and features.

A: The Eberly II is a good example of a long down coat. These types of jackets usually have a vertical length that extends about 10” or more beyond that of our more-standard 3/4 length parkas, such as the Huron, Chenega II, and Eldridge. The advantage of a long coat is that the additional coverage provides additional warmth.

However, it should be noted that because of the extended length of these jackets, we generally only recommend them to customers who are at least 5’10” in height. If worn by someone who is shorter in stature, it is possible that this parka could obstruct their movement and not offer the necessary fit to perform at its highest level.

A: With its 750 fill power and a fill weight of 7 ounces of white duck down, the Logan is the lightest down jacket in our catalog. Despite the fact that it uses high quality, 2-layer twill laminate fabrics, and is equipped with a hood, elastic cuffs, a high neckline, and variety of other features including inner chest pockets, it weighs in at just 24 ounces. This makes it the perfect choice for everyday wear and use during the transitional seasons of early-spring and late-fall when temperatures can fluctuate dramatically. It is also ideal for active excursions where you might generate extra body heat, thus negating the need for a thicker, heavier down jacket. The Logan also makes a great insulating layer as part of a more robust layering system.

Our Wyndmeir parka is also a lightweight option that uses 700 fill power and 9 ounces of white goose down as its insulation. This jacket is both waterproof and wind resistant, providing a bit of extra protection from the elements. It too comes with a hood, numerous pockets, and water-repellent zippers, while still managing to tip the scales at just 3.2 pounds. That is an exceptionally light weight for a high-performance parka that is waterproof and uses a 3-layer shell, making it a great choice for cold-weather travel or urban exploration.

Finally, the Verso is an incredibly versatile and lightweight jacket that weighs a mere 28 ounces. Despite its svelte design, this jacket still manages to deliver plenty of features. For instance, the Verso is reversible and extremely compressible, two features that make it a great choice for frequent travelers. This jacket is also designed to be highly breathable and it comes equipped with an attached adjustable hood, elastic cuffs and waistband, not to mention multiple pockets and durable YKK zippers. With its 750 fill power white duck down—and 9 ounces of fill weight—it can still manage to keep you warm on those chilly days too.

A: Yes! Because staying dry is crucial to staying warm and comfortable, we offer several waterproof jackets as part of our product line-up. All of our waterproof jackets not only use 3-layer shell fabrics, but have been treated with a DWR (durable water-repellent) finish to help shed moisture as quickly and efficiently as possible. Those same jackets use a seam-sealed construction and water-repellent zippers to prevent moisture from reaching the interior as well. The result is a jacket that is designed to take on the worst weather imaginable, while keeping its wearer completely dry at the same time. Those looking for an arctic-weight parka to keep them both warm and dry, will want to check out the Huron, Chenega II, and Stratus. All three use 700 fill power down, eco-friendly DWR coatings, and come with premium fur lining around the edge of their hoods. They are also wind-resistant, very durable, and built to take on the worst weather imaginable.

If you’re looking for a jacket designed for milder conditions, then perhaps the Wyndmeir lightweight parka is a more suitable model for you. It features a traditional parka design, and comes with 9 ounces of 700-fill power down insulation. This coat also uses 3-layer, waterproof fabrics and water-repellent zippers, making it a great option for those who need protection from the rain and snow, without the additional weight and bulk that comes with a parka designed for use in arctic conditions.

Our lightest fully-waterproof option is the Valen rain jacket, a men’s shell built for use in the heaviest of downpours. This coat doesn’t come with any down insulation whatsoever because its sole focus is on keeping the person wearing it completely dry. Because it is thinner and lighter than our other waterproof jackets, it is best used in warmer conditions or as the outer shell as part of a layering system.

A: Our Verso model is a lightweight down jacket that also happens to be fully reversible. This allows it to be turned inside out, changing its color, design, and functionality as a result. It also makes it a much more versatile jacket compared to more traditional models, which can be especially handy while traveling.

The Verso comes in two different versions, one that reverses black to olive green, while the other switches from charcoal to navy blue. On the outside of the jacket is a weather-resistant shell that is durable and soft, while remaining exceptionally well suited for protecting the wearer from the elements. On the inside, you’ll find a baffled ciré fabric shell that gives the jacket a more polished, puffer-style look. Both sides work together with one another to create one of the most versatile coats in the Triple F.A.T. Goose line-up, essentially providing two jackets in one.

A: If you’re looking to add an anorak-style down jacket to your wardrobe, then the Sheffield is the recommended option. It features all of the design elements you would expect from an anorak, including a kangaroo pouch pocket and a 1/4 zipper front opening. Customers who would prefer a full-zip option, will find that the Sheffield comes with a unique side-entry zipper too. Add-in a retro-inspired, 80s throwback design, 11 ounces of 700-fill power down insulation, Velcro cuff straps, and a hood that tucks away into the collar, and you get a jacket that is overflowing with style and character.

A: The Berkshire is our winter-ready leather jacket that combines warmth and comfort with a distinctive and timeless look. Made from ultra-soft lambskin leather, and featuring 12 ounces of 700-fill power white goose down, this is a unique coat that manages to combine both warmth with its own signature style. As part of our Originals collection, this jacket takes its cues from the Triple F.A.T. Goose models of the late 1980s, featuring similar design elements that harken back to that era. That includes the iconic black and white inner lining—complete with our signature goose pattern—and retro-styled zipper pulls. If you want a leather jacket that can also keep you warm, the Berkshire is definitely the one for you.

A: All of our jackets are designed to fit true to size. In other words, if you typically wear a medium sized jacket, chances are our medium sized jacket will fit you perfectly too.
